January 2007 YOUNG SPORTS LEADERS MAKE AN EXCELLENT START Young Sports Leaders from Misson and Saint Patricks primary schools made an excellent start to their careers as Sports Leaders. All pupils involved demonstrated superb leadership skills that are required to be a successful sports leader. The standards of focus, determination and imagination shown throughout the day were very impressive. Both schools have now gained 18 new sports leaders….. and several new games invented by the pupils (admittedly better than mine!!). The Young Leaders will be delivering these activities at lunchtimes to other pupils in their schools. Rob Underwood SSCO Serlby Park
Serlby Park News, 31st January 2007 Autumn Term Report for Dance. During the Autumn Term I spent time at Portland and Valley schools in Worksop teaching dance to Year 10 and 11 girls. We worked on several dance routines with mainly a streetdance/freestyle influence and decided to work towards a Christmas show. All the girls worked particularly hard, both during lessons and at lunchtime and after-school clubs, and were all keen to offer their own ideas for the performance. One routine involved both Portland and Valley girls performing a dance-off for which the girls from the two schools didn't meet until the dress rehearsal. Both groups had learned their individual steps and this worked extremely well on stage as the opening to the show. I was thoroughly impressed by the level of the girls commitment and their eagerness to continue dancing after my term in the school was completed.
