Leaders

In Bassetlaw we offer training in a range of different sports leadership courses for young people. The Young Leader Award is a programme of leadership training for young people between the ages of 9 and 13 that promotes them working with younger children, teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities. This is currently being delivered by the team of SSCOs in local primary schools.

For 14 to 16 schools offer the Level One Award in Sports Leadership which is normally delivered by PE staff with an interest in leadership. For further details click on the courses link.

The Level One in Community Sports Leadership gives people aged 16 and over the skills needed to lead groups in safe sporting and recreational activity. It encourages participants to take responsibility for others, develops organisational and communication skills and instils confidence in people for whom leading groups in sporting activities is a new experience. The majority of the course is practical in nature with an emphasis on learning through doing, rather than through written work.

The courses are normally delivered by Chris Dukes and his team from the sports development unit or by school PE staff. If you are interested click on the courses link.
